About SipCo Ltd

SIPCO STRUCTURAL INSULATED PANEL TECHNOLOGY

We offer a complete Structural Insulated Panel (SIP) design, manufacture, supply and installation project management service, which can be tailored to suit your specific requirements

SIPCO has become one of the leading award-winning SIP companies in the UK, completing high-profile projects working alongside major developers such as ISG and Amey, plus over 250 self build projects. Our Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) offer a solution to the strict requirements of Building Regulations, BREEAM and Passivhaus standards.

We have invested in state-of-the-art processing equipment for Structural Insulated Panels and computer numerical controlled (CNC) equipment to machine panels to exact shape and size. This sophisticated technology assures a consistently high-quality product manufactured to a tight tolerance. Fast response and high volumes are achievable and can help to reduce build programmes.

INTRODUCTION TO SIPS
SIPs is an acronym for Structural Insulated Panel System. Joining high performance rigid polyurethane foam insulation to oriented strandboard (OSB) producing engineered building components. SIPs are becoming a preferred modern method of construction (MMC). The result is a building product that is predictable, resource efficient and cost effective. SIPs are used as walls and roofs on all types of buildings.

WHY USE SIP TECHNOLOGY?
  • SIPs provide sustainable buildings with high thermal performance and air tightness
  • Higher standards for insulation mean building regulations and low carbon targets are achievable
  • Low-carbon construction and fabric first approach provides sustainability and energy efficiency
  • Meets the strict requirements of Building Regulations, BREEAM and Passivhaus Standards
  • U-values as low as 0.09 W/m²K with minimal heat loss via thermal bridging (Y-value). Typically, 0.025 W/m²K exceeds the accredited and enhanced construction details Y-values of 0.08 and 0.04 W/m²K, respectively

Advanced Offsite Technology
Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) are an advanced method of construction, exploiting composite panel techniques and delivering excellent structural and thermal characteristics in one system.

The panels consist of an insulating foam core sandwiched between two structural facings, typically oriented strand board (OSB). SIPs are manufactured under factory-controlled conditions and can be fabricated to fit nearly any building design. The result is a lightweight building system that is extremely strong, energy-efficient and is quick to erect and free from the complications of thermal bridging.

OUR SERVICES

Design
Our technical support starts early in the design process. Our experience, gained from delivering dozens of SIP buildings, allows us to maximise design potential – leading to fewer concessions and opening up more opportunities for value-engineering and design for manufacture and assembly (DfMA). Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and 2D and 3D detailing can extend into BIM-compliant modelling. SIPCO provides detailed calculations to ensure every design is practical and cost-effective. The result is super energy-efficient buildings that exceed regulations.

Manufacture
SIPCO has invested heavily in semi-automated production lines, providing a highly controlled manufacturing environment. Overseen by experienced operatives, Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) compatible cutting and drilling technology uses industry-leading software to create bespoke elements. Sophisticated production technology assures consistency in quality and tolerance. Fast response and high volumes are achievable with a result that offers value-engineered design and optimised performance.

Supply
SIPCO offers support in ensuring production and construction programmes, adaptable to changing circumstances, are carefully coordinated. Delivery of our ‘SIP-kits’ is scheduled to match on-site assembly to reduce build times and minimise on-site storage. We provide detailed drawings and structural calculations supported by British Board of Agrement (BBA) certification. Our offsite delivery programme gives a robust and predictable procurement route, less affected by site variables, supply risks and adverse weather conditions.

Install
Installation of SIPCO SIPS is quick and efficient, coordinated on-site by an experienced SIPCO Project Manager. We work with professional, qualified, SIPCheck-approved installation teams. All team members are CSCS accredited installers, with SSSTS team leaders, CPCS lift supervisors, slinger banksmen, First Aid training and relevant training to suit on-site fall arrest systems. Certified under the Structural Timber Association (STA) SIPCheck scheme – our installers ensure compliance with best-practice through audited processes against agreed industry standards.
