40 Homes Developed In Galston

40 new homes are being developed at two key sites in Galston.

As part of East Ayrshire Council's town centre house building programme, the £3.28m development at Chapel Lane will provide 30 new affordable homes comprising of eight one-bedroom flats, eight two-bedroom flats, five three-bedroom homes, four two-bedroom homes, three two-bedroom homes specifically designed for older people and two specially adapted two-bedroom homes for wheelchair users.

Councillor Douglas Reid, Leader of the Council, has visited the site with local members Councillors Alan Brown and George Mair.

He said: "The Chapel Lane site is a key part of the Council’s Strategic Local Programme which will see over 200 affordable homes being built in town centres throughout East Ayrshire fulfilling our objective to promote town centre living and in turn aid town centre regeneration."

Councillor Brown, local member and Spokesperson for Strategic Planning, Management and Resources said: "The second site on Brewland Street, which is a £1.4m development, is also really starting to take shape. This site will house ten new homes comprising of five three bedroom homes, and five two bedroom houses, one of which is suitable for older ambulant disabled and one specially designed for a wheelchair user. When completed, these homes are going to be life changing for local people."

The houses are being built by CBC and supported by funding from the Scottish government. Completion is expected early in the summer of 2015.
