100 Jobs Forecast For Oil And Gas Firm

Up to 100 new jobs look set to be created in West Lothian.

It is understood Oil States, an Aberdeen-based oil and gas services company, are looking to employ 100 additional staff in a number of areas. The new recruits will include technicians, machinists, inspectors and welders and they will be based at the firm's new site at Heartlands Business Park. The facility is currently under construction, but once completed, it will be used for Oil States' manufacturing, servicing and repairing of heavy steel components for the offshore oil and gas industry, as well as engineering research and development.

The 100 roles will be in addition to the company's 80 staff who are currently located at a site in Bathgate.

The new facility is expected to be completed and in use by early 2015.

Garry Stephen, Oil States UK Managing Director, is quoted as saying: "A key driver in our decision to relocate certain parts of the business from Aberdeen to central Scotland was access to a wider pool of talent and its prime location between Edinburgh and Glasgow.

"Oil States' presence in the UK is growing and this commitment to create 100 new jobs in the Bathgate area will give successful applicants the opportunity to work with a global organisation at the start of an exciting period of growth for the company."

Oil States UK is a subsidiary of Oil States International.
