Under The Bridge to Employment programme, the energy provider will work alongside three schools in the Great Glen area. They are Charleston Academt, Glenurquhart High School and Lochaber High School. As part of the scheme, SSE will provide support and advice to help pupils with the practical application of the academic skills they possess.

The programme was first brought to Inverness in 2008 by Lifescan Scotland, and with support from the Highland Council, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the University of the Highlands and Islands. Businesses get involved in a range of activities, such as hosting site visits to provide an insight into the industry, delivering training in confidence, teamwork and presentational skills, and providing mentoring.
The initiative also offers a structure for businesses to build relationships with high school students from fourth year until they move on to college, university or work.
This year, SSE has said the programme will benefit students throughout the entire Highland Council area for the first time. SSE has said the programme is now underway and updates will be provided shortly.
