Ground Work To Start On A9 Dualling Scheme

Transport Scotland has issued advice ahead of ground investigation work commencing on the A9 Dualling scheme which begins next week.

Starting on Monday (28 July), motorists on the A9, travelling between Kincraig and Dalraddy, will be affected by traffic restrictions in the area.

The restrictions are essential in order to allow ground investigations to be carried out on the carriageway of the A9 as the plans for dualling the section – the first section to be dualled – progress. The restrictions are expected to last for around two months. A scheduled completion date of Thursday 18 September has been provided. Works will take place between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Thursday of each week.

Jo Blewett, Transport Scotland's Programme Manager for the A9 Dualling programme, explained: "As part of the ambitious programme to dual the A9 between Perth and Inverness, we are working hard to deliver the Kincraig to Dalraddy scheme, which is expected to begin construction in 2015/16.

"These ground investigations are needed to get vital information on the existing A9 carriageway as we progress our plans to dual the 7.5 km section of the route.

"We apologise for any inconvenience the works will cause and would thank road users and local communities for their patience over the next two months. The contractor will closely monitor the operation of the traffic management to ensure that delays are kept to a minimum and that any incidents on site are quickly dealt with."
