The Scottish Borders Council (SBC) is to discuss plans which could see up to 200 new affordable homes built.
Elected Members of the SBC are being asked to approve the proposals which would see Council staff prepare a final business case and develop a council-led house building programme with the Scottish Futures Trust.
The Trust is an independent company established by the Scottish Government to deliver value for money across public infrastructure investment.
The programme is intended to provide an additional 200 homes to complement the planned delivery of affordable housing by registered social landlords, already agreed in the Council’s Strategic Housing Investment Programme and Strategic Local Programme.
The projects would be funded by council borrowing from the Public Loans Work Board using a National Housing Trust (NHT) variant model.
A total of 58 homes have already been delivered at Balnakiel in Galashiels and Innerleithen using the model.
The Council will discuss the proposals on Wednesday 26 June.
