Highland councillors are to discuss a proposal related to the Beatrice offshore wind farm.
The plans include constructing 277 wind turbines off the Caithness coast in the Moray Firth, the BBC has reported.
The Scottish Government has sought the Council's views on the project, with officials at the local authority recommending that councillors do not object to the plans.
Earlier this year, Highland councillors supported plans to build what has been described as the world's largest offshore wind farm in the Outer Moray Firth.
The Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Limited (Bowl) scheme would see more than half of the turbines stand at 613ft in height.
The project is a joint partnership between SSE Renewables and Repsol Nuevas Energias UK.
If approved, construction work could begin on site in 2015 with the first electricity being exported from the farm to shore by the summer of 2018.
Moray Offshore Renewables Ltd wants to construct up to 339 turbines across three offshore wind farms located 22km (13.5 miles) from the Caithness coast as part of a £4.5bn project.
