The V&A Museum at Dundee has been awarded a first round pass award of £9.2m from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Fiona Hyslop, Cabinet Secretary for Culture and External Affairs, said: "The V&A at Dundee will make an important contribution to Scotland's rich heritage and distinctive cultural identity, and will be a place for Scots and visitors to learn about and celebrate Scotland's long history of excellence in innovation and design. The museum will create local jobs and will contribute significantly to the regeneration of the Dundee waterfront.
"That is why I confirmed last year - despite a significant cut to my capital budget - that the Scottish Government will provide £15m, a third of the entire capital funding required for the project.
"The Heritage Lottery Fund's announcement today of a further £9.2m for the V&A is yet another vote of confidence in this excellent project and the innovative partners who are working hard to make it happen."
