The proposed contract for the repair and maintenance of the road bridge at Bridge of Dun is being deferred to avoid clashing with maintenance works on the A92 in Montrose.
David May, Angus Council's Infrastructure Services Convener, said: "It is very unusual for a project to be postponed after tenders have been received, but in this case there are benefits from delaying the project, not least the conflict between the two sets of works."
The maintenance works on the bridge are still essential and are being reprogrammed for next year.
