Icynene classic plus “o” foam insulation
The latest addition to the impressive Icynene product range is Icynene Classic Plus “O”. Icynene Classic Plus “O” is a class 0 fire rated spray foam insulation that has also achieved a best in class surface spread of flame of class 1 (test range class 1 best to class 4 worst). Utilising a special intumescent coating Icynene has achieved certification to BS EN 476 Part 6 & 7 in addition to achieving Class 0 in accordance with approved Documents B “Fire Safety” To the Building Regulations 2000.

JSJ installed underfloor spray foam insulation for us when we realised how draughty our new-to-us 1980's home was. The whole team have been great and especially Susan who was very helpful, informative and patient with my endless queries. The process was very smooth and they managed to work round some tricky timescales. The team that came to spray were all very polite, friendly and hard working, they also took care in our home and tidied up after themselves. The difference in heat retention and lack of draughts was immediately noticeable and we are hugely glad we had the work done. I was recommended to get in touch with JSJ Foam Insulation by a friend and they've proved to be great. I had another company quote for the work too and they gave me the hard sell by a salesman without listening to what I wanted. JSJ came out and were the complete opposite with a knowledgeable tradesman who properly scoped the job, listened to what I said and gave options and recommendations of the work. They also gave lots of help and advice with government assistance schemes and info about the spray foam product and their company.

When it came to the actual work, both the tradesmen and office staff were very good, efficient and nice to deal with. I got underfloor insulation which looks to be installed well with a minimum of mess and had definitely improved the heat efficiency of the house. I would thoroughly recommend JSJ and will use them again if I need other insulation work.

Fantastic company to deal with from start to finish. As for the insulation it has made a massive difference in a building that once couldn't get any heat inside. The whole team at JSJ Foam Insulation have been fantastic from start to finish. The advice the gave has been invaluable and what a difference the insulation has made! We were a little skeptical at the start about how much difference the foam would really make, but it was instantly noticeable. Our house was cold and draughty even on a warmer day, but the house now feels warm and retains heat - it is like night and day from what we had experienced before the foam was installed. We had the foam sprayed under the floor and into the layer between the brick and plaster board on the external walls of our house and the house feels completely different that it did previously - I would 100% recommend JSJ Foam Instulation to anyone looking to improve the heat retention in their house - it works so well!

Had foam insulation installed as part of renovation. Can’t recommend highly enough. A bit of research tells you foam insulation is far superior, and safer, than other forms.

JSJ have been brilliant throughout, answered all my queries quickly and the guys who turned up to install got on with their job and even helped lift a separate delivery of heavy items which arrived in the middle of their work. When done they waited around for me to arrive back to explain their work, what they did and why. Even insulated parts I didn’t think were possible given the renovation work going on.

I used JSJ Foam to provide underfloor insulation and the whole experience has been pleasantly stress free. They are clearly well organised and focussed on providing excellent customer service. I applied for assistance from the Energy Saving Trust to get a grant/loan which was a fairly lengthy & bureaucratic experience. However throughout the process Susan at JSJ was understanding and stayed in contact. When the grant was eventually approved the work was arranged quickly. Kenny and Gary were enthusiastic about the benefits of their product and provided excellent service. I live in a stone built Victorian Semi with a basement, with only the floor boards separating the space above. The work was carried out swiftly with a minimum of disruption. After the guys had finished I immediately noticed a difference in the feel to the house. You are effectively left with this big comfy solid blanket which seals the space stopping unwanted air flow through all the tiny gaps and holes. It feels warmer and quieter and I'm sure I will see less insects in the form of spiders and slaters. I think their product provides excellent value and shouldn’t hesitate to endorse the company and their service.

The team at JSJ Foam Insulation have completed a large complicated job with some very tight corners in an efficient and professional manner with the utmost courtesy and respect. I was amazed at how professional and hardworking Gary W, Jamie and Jack were when they installed the underfloor foam insulation. Outbuilding coated to stop condensation... took some time to start due to weather ..roof has to be dry.. best time for this is warmer time of year.. was happy to wait till weather permitted job to proceed and when the boys started it was completed in the same day.. big job as the working area is fragile with very limited strong areas to stand for working.

I have absolutely no experience with insulation but Susan gave advice and continual contact throughout as we were not living in the property at the time. They have done an amazing job and I would definitely recommend them if anyone else needed work doing. They even uncovered extra storage in the eves when they had to cut access panels in the eves. I can't evaluate the actual result as it's spring however the loft is nice and warm rather than climbing into the ice bucket I remember. It's our main area of storage, so we plan to be up there a lot and this will make it more welcoming.

From my initial contact with the company they have been extremely helpful, including advising of the available loans and grants via the Scottish government.
They handled difficulties with date changes outwith their control very well and their team of 6 or 7 who arrived to complete the job in one day were hardworking and courteous.
Plenty of information was provided prior to the work commencing and they left the house clean and tidy at the end of the day.
Best part was the noticeable improvement in the heat in the house the evening after the days work.

From the first phone call JSJ Foam Insulation have made us feel that everyone there is totally on the ball! Susan led the way with a professional and friendly manner followed up with explanatory videos. Jim arrived on time and carried out the survey explaining how it all worked ( underfloor downstairs on a 60s property) and on the day of installation Gary, Gary and Jamie did a fantastic job in a way that did not intrude on us at all. I contacted JSJ Foam after getting a silly quote from another supplier and the difference was night and day. Susan talked me through the process and managed to do a quote using google earth. Then Mark the surveyor came out to confirm measurements and he was great at explaining how it would work and even gave me advice on another issue unrelated to the job. On installation day the lads Gary, Gary Jamie and Dale came in covered the floors and staircase before starting and never stopped until the job was finished, left the house spotless and even cleaned up some stray foam that fell in the back garden. I cannot recommend this company high enough in all aspects from communication, advice, expertise, friendliness and price.

Went through JSJ as they were a company working with Energy Saving Trust so we used a grant to fund a portion of the work. We had underfloor insulation put in, and I was a little sceptical as to how effective it would be. I needn’t have worried; It’s been great. We have a smart meter and thermostat and the temperature throughout the day will only drop by 1 degree now despite the heating clicking off around 0900 and back on at 1800. The floors are much quieter and you can feel how much warmer they are under foot. The work also bumped us up a grade on our EPC. Obviously the foam is more expensive than traditional wool insulation, but with it being a foam solution it also stops the drafts coming up through behind the skirting board and gaps in the floor boards. This has been a massive benefit.

The company were easy to deal with, including moving dates around due to lockdown measures. All of this was done without any issues and they were understanding throughout. Communication was great, and they made sure they took the time to protect our property prior to doing the work. They left the place tidy, and the only sign anyone had been in were a couple of scuffs on door frames and skirting boards which easily buffed out.

Overall, more than happy to recommend and the performance of our home is much better as a result of the work. Thanks!

I contacted JSJ Foam Insulation for a survey/quotation for under floor insulation on our suspended floor. I was concerned that it would not be possible as access under the floor was very limited and I was worried that all the floorboards would require to be lifted. During the survey it was confirmed that only a small number of hatches in the floorboards had to be cut and this meant very minimal disruption. The quote provided was maybe more than we were hoping to spend but after much research we decided to go with JSJ due to the other excellent reviews, the service provided by Susan and the team and the knowledge we were getting a first class product backed with a 25 year guarantee. The day of the installation was smooth with no issues whatsoever. Gary, Gary and Jamie made a great job of the work with very little disruption and mess. The effects of having the foam insulation installed could be felt straight away. The ground floor of the house felt warmer, the rooms got up to temperature a lot quicker with the heating on and cooled down much slower thanks to no drafts coming up through our exposed floorboards. Jim, Marc and Gary were brilliant through out the whole day working terrifically hard, seemingly not minding my present as I moved things. Their team work is second to none, as they moved from room to room and boy, I was pretty grateful as they relaid the carpets and pulled the larger bits of furniture back in to place. They kept me informed and showing me the infrared camera evidence as they progressed with the work, so in honestly what a great bunch of guys. Dare I say I really enjoyed it all, but then I am not normal. But it is nice having the flat back to normal again, albeit different...which brings me to the outcome. Well I not sure I can really describe it. But the flat seems more solid, well the floors for sure, the sound in the flat is also different. And while it is very earlier days and today has been warm again. I am sure the temperature feels different at floor level.... so as far as I am concerned, its been a big change and I am, if a little anxious initial glad decided to go ahead with the work.

I’ve been a builder for over 30 years and this is my first time to use JSJ foam insulation and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results. I’ve dealt with Susan from before lockdown and was kept up to date with everything during a testing time for all . Last Thursday the van arrived at my house and Gary and Jamie introduced themselves and went straight to protecting all the floors and furnishings. They did a great job throughout the day and cleaned everything up before they left . I couldn’t be more impressed so well done lads . I’ve installed Kingspan etc for many years and the cost to my clients to have it installed never mind the cost of the labour has been a large chunk of the budgets and it took up loads of time delaying the jobs. But now I will be recommending JSJ for future projects as it’s very cost effective, great product and a great team to be dealing with . So well done to Susan, Gary, Jamie and all the team . JSJ installed loft insulation in a property I'm rennovating just now and I was really impressed with their set up. From the outset, Susan was very responsive and proactive in organising a survey and quote then the installation guys - Gary, Gary, Jamie and Dale - were professional, polite and efficient. They even worked around another contractor without any hassle. Would definitely recommend the company and the finished product looks great. I had my roof insulated by JSJ. Jim and Susan were great from the start, offering me plenty of advice. Being in the Armed Forces I was limited to dates but Susan kindly worked around us. Jim, Craig and Grant arrived to carry out the work and always kept me in the loop with what was going on and what they were doing next. The lads were professional and polite and showed me their work before shutting the area back off. I honestly expected it to be a mess and be left with lots of holes but Jim carefully cut the plasterboard in a way that it could be screwed back into place and the lads kept the house clean making sure everywhere had plastic sheeting and then they vacuumed everywhere before they left. As for the product we have noticed an incredible difference in the house. The house is so warm now and we have even noticed that we cant really hear as much noise from outside whilst in the bedrooms. (Bedrooms are room in roof). Thanks JSJ it was a pleasure and I would highly recommend your team.

We have had the icynene foam insulation completed on Friday 04/10/19. The job was done professionally by both Jim and Grant. Everything promised was done and also asked myself up to the loft to see what it looked like to ensure I was happy. Seems excellent product dont think my heating has come on since they left which is great. Please don't be fooled by the other salesman out there trying to get you to sign up for an astronomical cost. I was given a quote by evergreen power for 12 months that was going to be over £7000 but JSJ Foam insulation was around 70% cheaper. Very friendly company, all carpets etc covered with protective wrap and cleared up all mess after job was complete. One very pleasing part was at end of the job was invited up the loft to see complete job by Jim and talked through everything covered. I can't recommend this company enough for any insulation issues you may have. Jim Grant & Susan it was a pleasure to meet you and have you in my house completing the job to the high standard you did. Anything I have issues with going forward with insulation etc I will definitely use your company. Susan & Jim please remember what I offered to do for you, anything else i can do to assist just contact. JSJ Insulations recently insulated the roof in my 3 bed detached cottage and I couldn't have asked for a better service. From start to finish the team were very professional and easily contactable through mobile, text and e-mail. I am a military man and was only home for a few days between deployments, the team were flexible enough to work to my scarce availability at short notice and all of the work was complete in a day. The price was very reasonable, much cheaper than I had expected it would be and when the job was complete the house was left clean and tidy. A graet co,pany to deal with, from initial measuring up and advice, to completion. The guys arrived on time and worked pretty much non stop, for a long day. I cannot fault the job . I had looked at doing the insulation myself with kingspan or similar, but by the time you get it cut and sealed not to mention the time and effort that would take. Scenario A modern detached house built about 30 years ago just as insulation standards started to increase. A big issue was heat loss through the suspended ground floor which was not insulated in any way. We moved into the house in mid 2017 and one of our first important improvements was the replacement of all the old and weary windows and doors with new high insulation units. Project JSJ Foam Insulation Ltd were asked to consider whether they could install their Icynene spray foam insulation product to the underside of the ground floor. The problem they faced was that the height of the space between the solum and the underside of the floor joists was only about 280mm, this being considered to be an absolute minimum working space. The work The JSJ team arrived on the first day and succeeded in spraying the foam from underneath to approximately 50% of the underfloor area. It became clear that the working space in the other 50% was impossibly small and the job was concluded at that point. However, the benefits of the insulation was very quickly seen in the rooms that had been treated. So, discussions took place with JSJ about a different approach to the remainder of the floor. It was decided to lift the floor and to fill the area between the joists from above. Jim and his team managed to lift the chipboard floor in single pieces that could be stood up against the interior walls. And so the required insulation was installed. The outcome We are very happy with the outcome of the work. Our ground floor rooms are now very much more comfortable and retain the heat much better overnight after the central heating goes off. Our heating and cooking is provided by gas which I monitor on a weekly basis. In the 3 month period from February to April 2019 after the work was completed, our gas usage reduced by just over 20% compared to the same period in 2018. Workmanship We are of the opinion that the quality of the workmanship exhibited by Jim and his team has been extremely high. Our big worry for the second stage of project was ending up with creaky floors. That has not turned out to be the case - the floors are just as they were prior to JSJ coming on site. Both phases of work were carried out in an efficient manner and our house left in a clean and tidy state. Recommendation We are very happy with the work done and have no hesitation in recommending JSJ Foam Insulation Ltd. 6 stars out of 5

This recommendation is 2 months in the making. I was wary of waxing lyrical about my new insulation until I saw the new, almost instant, coziness translated into savings. Prior to the installation, my gas bills were through the roof and the top half of the house was very draughty. We had underfloor heating in one part of the house but, although it was toasty, the system was running almost constantly with the floor very hot at times. Now, after the foam insulation the temperature is as good but without the heat flying out of the roof and the floor is now a very comfortable temperature. Next was the energy company; they refused to believe that my energy use had dropped by a whopping 50%. They sent someone to verify the meter readings before they would accept to credit my account by, wait for it, £700. I must apologise to JSJ foam insulation for not having given any feedback until now but I hope they don’t feel that I am not totally satisfied with them or the concept of foam insulation. It is quick and clean to install and produces an instant increase in comfort. They left the house clean and tidy and were courteous and professional to a fault.

Testimony for JSJ Foam Insulation From Mhairi and Jim Gibson, Edinburgh We have just had the foam insulation installed in our bungalow in Edinburgh and Id like to say what a huge difference this has made to making the house totally comfortable and snug like we never imagined. As a background to the story, we bought and renovated the house last year and thought we had done a good job. We renovated during the summer 2018 which as we all know was a warm summer and although we thought we had insulated the loft conversion to a decent standard it soon became apparent that the joiner had made a hopeless job of it and it was absolutely freezing up there. We also have a decent size solum and we counted 13 airbricks right round the whole house. Although we have thick undelay and carpets it was not enough and so the whole house felt like a huge draught box. I know this sounds ridiculous but the upstairs was so cold I went to the Morningside charity shops and bought 5 fur coats so I could lay them over the bed at night. It was the only way to get warm and each night it felt like we were getting ready for an episode of Game of thrones. I was so cold I was thoroughly miserable. I have to say the results are really amazing. Before we got it done, I would walk upstairs and it honestly felt like someone had left all the velux windows open. It was that draughty . But now after we have had the place Icynened it’s really snug and also very quiet. I love that I am in charge of my own fresh air! There have now been nights where its too warm and we have to open a window at night hurrah! Downstairs is the same. we have a thermostat in the hallway and my daughter asks why the heating isn’t going on (it’s not cold but we are so used to it going on all the time cos it was cold before) so we keep upping the thermostat by one degree and it comes on then goes off again after 20 mins. This must be the effect of the Icynene. It does what it says on the can! Heating bills – we moved in last November and because the place was freezing our bill for the first 3 months was about £1200. This is because we were trying to get comfortable. It’s a new heating system so very efficient but we just couldn’t get warm cos it was so draughty so this is why the bill was so high. We haven’t had a bill in yet after the icynene but I know its going to be lower as some days the heating only goes on in the morning, its on an auto timer with a manual override. I work from home so if it was cold, I would totally be putting it onto manual but I have not felt the need to do that. This is definitely not wishful thinking as I hate being cold! so if it was cold the heating would totally be going on! Now I know there are people out there that go into the whole " payback " and the cost of getting your house Icynened, however for us it wasn’t about the saving money/payback etc etc it was about being comfortable in our house. How can you put a value on not being cold and miserable? There’s simply nothing worse than being cold when you are at home particularly after we had already spent a lot of money renovating, new windows etc. Before we got the place Icynened we were gutted that we had spent all that money on renovating and we felt like saying, well what was the point of doing all that , the place is freezing anyway ! So, for us it was about being comfortable and warm and not draughty and being able to open windows when we want to, and JSJ have totally helped us achieve that. We would definitely recommend this to anyone. Jim and Susan are very very knowledgeable about the science behind it all and there’s not much they don't know about the product and also about houses generally. I have used JSJ twice now, for my metal roofed garage and also my extension. The garage in winter suffered from condensation and the foam treatment cured it instantly.
